Anti Aging

Skin is very important, the largest human organ. It protects us against getting dried out and prevents us from being poisoned with toxic compounds from the environment

aging and health

Skin performs the following functions:

*Protection - protect the body against invasion by bacteria and other foreign things.

*Sensation - the skin can sense 5 different kinds of stimulation: touch, pressure, heat, cold, and pain.

*Heat regulation - the skin helps to control body temperature by distributing heat through the skin and by preventing dehydration.

*Water resistance - the skin acts as a water resistant barrier so essential nutrients aren't washed out of the body.

Skin has tree layers : epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous. The epidermis is the part of your skin you can see. It forms the waterproof, protective wrap over the body's surface. The thickness of the epidermis varies in different types of skin. It is the thinnest on the eyelids at .05 mm and the thickest on the palms and soles at 1.5 mm. The dermis contains nerve endings, blood vessels, oil glands, and sweat glands. It also contains collagen and elastin, which are tough and stretchy. The subcutaneous tissue is a layer of fat and connective tissue that houses larger blood vessels and nerves. This layer is important is the regulation of temperature of the skin itself and the body.

The skin is a complicated structure with many functions. The whole specialty of dermatology is devoted to understanding the skin.

The skin is one of the first body parts to show age. We haven't a magic pill for young, healthy looking skin but there are several steps you can take to help keep your skin looking young and healthy,to look as young as you can, for as long as you can.

Protection from sun exposure

Protection from sun exposure is important all year round, not just during the summer or at the beach. Any time the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays are able to reach the earth, you need to protect yourself from excessive sun exposure. UV rays can cause skin damage during any season or temperature.
UV rays reach you on cloudy and hazy days, as well as bright and sunny days. UV rays will also reflect off any surface like water, cement, sand, and snow.
When possible, avoid outdoor activities during midday, when the sun's rays are strongest. This usually means the hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. You can also wear protective clothing, such as a wide-brimmed hat, long-sleeved shirt, and long pants.
For eye protection, wear wraparound sunglasses that provide 100 percent UV ray protection.

Don’t smoke

If you smoke, quit. And if you don't smoke, don't start. Cigarette smoking promotes skin wrinkling and is thought to accelerate the damage caused by sun exposure. The action of puckering up for each drag on a cigarette increases the likelihood of wrinkles around the mouth. Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, and other major health problems.

Eat vegetable and fruits

Eating plenty of vegetables and fruits can help you ward off heart disease and stroke, control blood pressure, prevent some types of cancer, avoid a painful intestinal ailment called diverticulitis, and guard against cataract and macular degeneration, two common causes of vision loss.

We now know more about how the things we put into our mouths affect our systems overall, including the aging process. By following a diet rich in anti-aging fruits and vegetables, a person can not only extend their life, they can also look great as they age as well!

Anti-aging fruits and vegetables should contain Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin D Vitamin E, Selenium, Beta Carotene, Lycopene, L-Glutathione, Vitamin D, Green Tea, and Antioxidant.

The best anti-aging fruits and vegetables includes citrus fruits - oranges, tangerines, limes, and grapefruits, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, apples, cantaloupe, peaches and apricots

Sleep and Aging

Every person's sleep needs are different. If you are getting less sleep than when you were younger, but still feel rested and energetic during the day, it might just be that you now need less sleep. No matter what your age, getting the proper amount of sleep is essential to your physical health and emotional well-being. To feel your best, you need a restful night of sleep, good nutrition, and exercise. You may be surprised at how good you feel when you get enough sleep. As we age, a good night’s sleep is especially important because it improves concentration and memory formation, allows your body to repair any cell damage that occurred during the day, and refreshes your immune system which helps to prevent disease.

Water

Drink at least eight glasses of water each day. Develop a routine - drink water when you wake up, at each meal, between meals and before bed. If you are trying to flush the free radicals from your body, you will need the water to do so. You can also drink tea, fresh fruit or vegetable juice.

How do I select the best skin care products?

Wholesale skin products are now being sold online more than ever before. But how to know which skin care products to choose to take aging away? It's hard to find one of the few that actually produces real results and eliminates years of aging from your face and body.

The most common skin conditions associated with aging skin are wrinkles, age spots, and leathery skin.

Skin care basic

1.Face Washing Dos and Don'ts - Beauty consultants might recommend a facial treatment trifecta — cleanse, tone and moisturize — but dermatologists say that comfortable-for-you cleansing is key, and moisturizing may help some skin types. Besides the fact that it washes away with water (use tepid, not hot), all you need to know about a cleanser is that it makes your skin feel soft, clean and neither dry nor greasy. A toner's role is to remove oily residue and provide a fresh feeling; it does nothing to firm the skin long-term. With today's rinse-off cleansers, you'll rarely need a toner — you might want one, though, if your face has become oily over the course of the day. For dry-skin sufferers, a moisturizer can soothe and protect — the test is whether your skin feels too tight. There are many effective moisturizers — try one (sample size available?), then listen to your skin.

2.Beauty Starts With Healthy Skin - To keep your skin looking taut and smooth, take steps to help this outermost organ stand the test of time. Wash your skin the way that feels best — choose the products that feel pleasant and wash the number of times that makes your face feel fresh. If it ain't dry, don't moisten it. But many skin types get dry and cracked if you skip this step. For all skin types, and at every age, slathering on an SPF 15 or higher is a have-to habit, to protect against the UV rays that cause wrinkles as well as skin cancer. Knowing what to eat — and why to avoid skin-damaging sugar — can restore life to a dull complexion.

3.Natural Cosmetics: According to Dr. Roberta Palestine, who did her residency in dermatology at the Mayo Clinic, "It really is marketing hype. Natural isn't always better. Synthetic isn't necessarily worse."

4.Testing Your Skin:If you suffer from allergies, ask your dermatologist for the newer, more extensive patch testing. It goes beyond the basic 24 chemicals. This pinpoints the exact chemicals that are problematic for you. Then find out which products use them and avoid them.

5.Some advises: that more women should adjust the consistency of their skincare products with the season. "Use creamier products for winter, then lotions in the summer"

Makeup-basics

Playing with makeup can be great fun. It can also be a terrible disaster, especially if you don't know what you are doing — you could end up looking like Frankenstein’s ugly sister.

The beauty industry has loads of beauty secrets and visiting a makeup artist for a makeover can be a great way to learn some of their tricks. But, if you can't afford a makeup artist, here are some quick tips you can start using today for flawless makeup application.

1.Always ensure your face is clean before applying makeup. Cleanse, tone and moisturize before you apply your makeup. Use a warm cloth when cleansing as this opens the pores and allows you to apply moisturizer that will soak up before your foundation goes on.

2. Conceal it. If you have blemishes or problem spots on your skin, cover them up by dabbing a bit of congealer over them.

3.Begin your application with foundation, applying it with a clean foundation brush. This will allow you to apply foundation more easily and without wasting any. Never use your hands as they can contribute to oil and the spread of bacteria. Foundation sponges are also a good option.

4. Finish off your foundation with a matching powder, blending it in circles to give your skin a finished look.

Now you're ready to play and have some fun. Starting with the eyes, begin to apply eye shadow, starting from the inside corner of your eye and blending it outwards. If you want to add some highlighting effects, apply a shimmering shade just beneath your eyebrow arch and blend it in.

You can use a trio of eye shadow that has three different shades. The lighter one would be used for highlighting and can also be applied to the inside corner of the eyelid. The second, darker shade would then be applied on the middle section of the eyelid, while the darker shade will be applied to the outer corner of the eyelid. The golden rule of applying eye makeup trios: Always blend in the shades to create a finished off look. The last thing you want is to have hard, defined color points, especially on your eyes.

Next, apply eyeliner and finish it off with mascara. Always ensure you apply mascara when you have finished making up your eyes.

6. If you'd like, you can subtly apply a blusher. Don't go too dramatic. Remember, your blusher should only brighten up your cheeks, but should always look natural. Again, blend, blend, blend.

7.Complete your makeup application by applying lip-liner to your lips and finish the look off with a matching lipstick and lip-gloss. Check the mirror one last time and fix up any flaws before packing your makeup-tricks bag away.

Fragrances

Fragrances can make you feel fresh and even help you turn a few heads. Learn how to correctly apply fragrances for maximum scent effect.

1.Do choose a fragrance that suits you. Different fragrances will have a different affect on people, so before you go out and buy one that you like on your best friend, make sure you try it out on your own skin and see how your body chemistry reacts to it.

2.Do change your perfume with the change of the season. In winter you may need a stronger scent as the cold may reduce the scent's power.

3.Do wear more fragrance if you have dry skin; you will need to apply fragrances more often than those who have oily skin.

4.Do apply your perfume after you have showered and dried completely. After a shower or bath, your pores open up allowing the perfume to be soaked into your pores.

Do supplements boost our health or are they a waste of money?

To supplement or not to supplement - that is the question facing health-conscious consumers. Confronted with rows of glistening products in the high street and bombarded with persuasive messages from advertising hoardings, how are they to know whether they really need those extra vitamins or not?
Go to the Food Standards Authority (FSA) website and you will be told that most people can get all the nutrients they require from their diet. Visit a chemist or health food store and you immediately enter the arena of vested interest: how can you be sure that your health - rather than company profits - is of paramount concern to the person behind the counter?

So how do we make our way through this minefield of echinacea and glucosamine and avoid hurting our bank balance, and potentially our health, by taking needless supplements?

There are numerous products on the market and every single one has a different effect on your body. Read carefully all about these products before deciding which one best suits your needs

Fashion & Beauty

People prefer to be fashionable and stylish when they step out to the streets. There are number of designs and colours available for both men and women to be fashionable, but unfortunately most of us neglect the importance of style co-ordination. Some colours match with only few particular colours, few designs go well with another few, and the same with fashion accessories. To be perfectly attired and stylish one should know what to wear, how to wear and what all accessories match it?

It is common to face dilemma in fashion coordination. How to match colors for clothing, how to coordinate checks with stripes and many more are the most common issues people face regarding fashion.

The fashion accessories you use should be complimentary to the dressing style. Prefer a hairstyle fitting to your dress code. Never a particular object on your body should look focused, but in a perfect match you should look brighter and cool.
